Anti-wrinkle injections are a safe cosmetic procedure that relaxes and softens fine lines, creases, and expression lines, giving you a more refreshed and youthful appearance.

Whilst the face is in motion the lines that appear are known as dynamic wrinkles, however repeated movement over time forms deeper lines and folds known as static wrinkles. Anti-wrinkle injections work to prevent the formation of static wrinkles by stopping the release of Acetylecholine, the signal between the nerve and muscle.

The decreased movement in the muscle places less stress on the skin helping you maintain a fresh and youthful appearance. This treatment is most effective when used as a preventative measure.

Wrinkles are caused by the habitual and uncontrollable contraction of some of the tiny muscles of the face, which wrinkle up the overlying skin. Anti-wrinkle injections work to alleviate wrinkles on a biological basis; by blocking the signal from the brain which tells your wrinkle-causing muscles to contract.

The product we use is a modified form of a naturally occurring substance which blocks the signals between your facial nerves and these superficial muscles, which ultimately allows the skin to relax.

Frequently asked questions

Which areas can be treated?

The most common treatment areas for wrinkle reduction are crow's feet (lines around the outer eyes), glabella (between the eyes) and the forehead. However, they can also be used to minimise the lines around the mouth, nose, smooth the chin, relax the jawline and neck bands and add life to the brow. Muscle relaxants can even be used to treat excessive sweating and jaw grinding.

Does the treatment hurt?

Antiwrinkle injections are delivered through a very fine needle just under the skin or into a muscle. While most clients find the discomfort minimal and short lived, ice and local anaesthetic numbing cream can help reduce any discomfort.

Are anti-wrinkle injections safe?

Anti-wrinkle injections use Botulinum Toxin Type A, a toxin that has a very safe history and is one of the leading non-surgical cosmetic procedures all over the world. To ensure that all injections we administer are completely safe, all of our practitioners are highly qualified, experienced and registered.

Should I expect any side effects?

The most common side effects of fillers are bruising, infection and allergic reaction. There can be significant complications if the operator accidentally injects filler into blood vessels, the most common being potential skin loss.

Will my face be stiff/frozen after treatment?

Probably one of the biggest myths associated with anti-wrinkle injections is that you’ll end up with an unnatural result and an inability to create facial expressions. This couldn’t be further from the truth.

Over time, your skin’s natural ability to protect itself reduces and muscle contractions start to leave their mark. Anti-wrinkle injections are a quick, affordable and effective wrinkle treatment to help reduce and prevent wrinkle formation.

How often will I need treatment?

The effect generally lasts three to four months, although with regular treatments it may be possible to increase the length of time between the dosage.

What should I expect post-treatment?

It generally takes three to 10 days after the treatment for the maximum to develop fully and re-treatment should not occur within that period.
