As Wollongong Dermatology is a specialist clinic, you will require a referral from your local doctor or medical centre to obtain the Medicare rebate on your first and any subsequent consultations.

We can process your Medicare rebate at the time of payment. This means is you’ll simply pay for the consultation on the day of the visit and then Medicare will deposit your rebate directly into your bank account within 24 - 48 hours.

If you would prefer to use a bulk billed service then please speak with your GP about public hospital dermatology clinics. The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital and St Vincent's Hospital have dermatology departments that offer bulk billed services.

Some restrictions to Medicare rebates do apply. Medicare rebates are available for all our medical services listed under the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS). To be eligible to claim a Medicare rebate on medical and surgical services you must:

• You need to have a current Medicare card
• Cosmetic services are not covered by Medicare

The current Medicare rebate, during an single course of treatment, is $75.05 for an initial attendance or $37.70 for a subsequent attendance. Rebates for other medical and surgical services vary, but can be found on the Department of Health MBS website.

We provide a discount rate to Concession Card holders. The discount rate is approximately 75% of our normal fees. You will need to bring your pensioner concession card to your initial consultation. This discount does not apply to Health Care Cards or Commonwealth Seniors Health Cards.

Veterans and their widows or dependants who hold a DVA Gold Card will have their account sent directly to DVA and will not incur any additional charges.

We can perform an electronic claim direct to Medicare on the day of your consultation and your rebate will be direct debited into your nominated bank account within 48 hours.
